Dr Julia Tyrrell (Osteopath)

Ba. App Sci (Clinical Science)/Ba. Osteopathic Science

Julia's treatment style is based around restoring balance to the musculoskeletal system. Initially identifying areas of concern then concentrating treatment on those affected muscles and joints.

To release muscle tension, Julia focuses on deep tissue techniques to unwind deep layers of muscle tension. This is done using a combination of techniques such as deep tissue massage, inhibition (holding the muscle) and stretching. To encourage movement in joints which are stiff and restricted Julia uses articulation techniques which take joints through their range of motion and improve movement at the affected joints. As an osteopath, Julia's areas of interest are back, neck and hip pain, tension headache and sciatic pain.

To maintain the beneficial effects of Osteopathic treatment, Julia prescribes patients home exercises and techniques to help manage symptoms between Osteopathic appointments. She also has a strong interest in meditation and nutrition including nutrient dense foods and food history.

Originally from Melbourne, Julia studied Osteopathy at RMIT. She is an experienced Osteopath having 10 years experience in practices across Melbourne and Perth. In 2011, Julia completed postgraduate studies gaining a Graduate Diploma of Management (Personal Injury) from Deakin University.
